ART: LUCIE RIE | POTTERY

Dame Lucie Rie's ceramics combine an eclectic influence, inspired by her diverse and fascinating background. Having established her first studio in Vienna, she won a silver medal at the Paris International Exhibition alongside Picasso's Guernica. Her Jewish heritage meant that she had to flee Nazi-Austria for England in 1938. Later she would exhibit at the MET alongside Hans Coper. We love the geometric simplicity of these works with their clean and elegant shades. An inspiring artist to be celebrated.

Thanks to somewhereiwouldliketolive for making us aware of her.
