OLD INSPIRATION: GEORGE'S BARBER SHOP 1936 | PORTLAND

City of Portland Archives

We bumped into this image whilst researching and fell in love with it. Although over 70 years old, it has an amazing modernity to it from the clothes to the branding. Fashion at the moment appears to be strongly influenced by the 30's and there are a number of spaces from restaurants to barbers, on both sides of the pond, also taking inspiration from this era.

INTERIOR INSPIRATION: CIRE TRUDON | NEW YORK

The Paris based candle maker, known to be the oldest and 'most prestigious wax manufacturer in the world,' opened up their NY store a couple of years ago. The design is a quirky mix of old school Parisian with New York rough lux. Worth popping into for the incredible smells!

LUCIO FONTANA: AMBIENTI SPAZIALI AT THE GAGOSIAN GALLERY | NEW YORK

A very exciting show for those fans of Fontana, which certainly includes us! This is the biggest and most interesting show of his works in the States to date, showing over 70 of his pieces in the Gagosian's impressive space on 24th street. The show stems from 6 paintings he painted from 1949, Ambienti Spaziali, the year the 'slashing' began.
You have until June 30th to view and if in New York, then we're imagining it will be well worth a visit. We're heading out ourselves before then so our rather excited.
