DESIGN SHOW: TERENCE CONRAN | THE WAY WE LIVE NOW

We were kindly invited by our friends at the Conran to an evening at the new Terence Conran show at the Design Museum, 'THE WAY WE LIVE NOW.' The show gives a brief overview to one of Britain's biggest and most loved designers and takes one through his work from the 1950's to the present day. This includes the well loved Habitats and the numerous restaurants we've come accustomed to over the years. What we loved specifically about the show was some very personal touches, the top note was a book note written from Terence to his sister having returned from a holiday - even something as simple as that seems remarkably well designed. I doubt our generation nor generations below will be able to be so influential to high street design and design in general as Mr Conran.

INTERVIEW: 'NOT ANOTHER BILL' WITH FOUNDER NED CORBETT-WINDER

We caught up with design monkey Mr Ned Corbett-Winder, founder of the coolest present service in town. Ned graduated from Central St Martins with a first class degree in Advertising, moving to M&C Saatchi and for the last four years has been working as an Art Director on some of Britain's best loved ads. In the last year Mr Ned C-W set up NOTANOTHERBILL, a simple idea: have amazing things delivered to your door every month!

NED C-W: 'So people subscribe for themselves or buy a subscription as a gift, and every month they receive a surprise present in the post. I source my presents from far and wide with the aim of introducing my subscribers to great artists, designers and brands and also finding rare treats from markets and fairs.'

Within the pack of goodies, one receives a 'carefully curated and beautifully wrapped present,' a personalized letter explaining everything about it and Ned's thoughts behind it.

ALEXANDER WATERWORTH: 'With all the various things you've sent out, you have to send one thing to someone deserted on a island: what would you send and why.'

NED C-W: 'I sent something out a few months called 'Allotinabox' which is a box containing seeds, twine, grow wheels and other garden treats. Is more for an urban allotment.

Not only are they amazing presents, but they can keep you alive anywhere in the world!

Other past presents including limited edition Art prints by Dan Hillier, Tom Forst and Peskimo all the way to stencil and stationary kits from Present&Correct (one of his fav brands). With future presents including jewelry from Sweden, art from the US, wallets from Austria and music collaborations among many many more utterly exquisite bits and bobs and for only £15, we say visit NOTANOTHERBILL now and purchase what will be London's most epic of crimbo presents.

INTERIORS: LE GROTE DELLA CIVITA HOTEL | ITALY

As we promised more Italianinspired posts, here is one incomparable ancient place to stay. Le SextantioLe Grote della Civita seems to be one of the world’s most unique hotels. The hotel is set inside theSassi di Matera (Southern Italy) caves themselves with the interiors keeping the integrity of the cavesintact by using the original architectural materials from the area. Theinteriors of the rooms are very simple, using plain furniture built out ofrecycled materials, yet keeping the rural historic tradition through colors, textures and scents identified with the area.

We definitely have to put this place on our list of places to go...

ARTS: LOUVRE

Saw this piece at the Louvre this morning in the ancient Egyptian Antiquities department. There's something quite comical about the 4,000 year old sculpture yet have a strange  pull to the the little monster.
