PHOTOGRAPHY: MARIO MARINO AT THE GALERIE BROCKSTEDT | BERLIN

We were at the National Portrait Gallery yesterday to view the 'Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize' which included a photo by Mario Marino from his 'Faces Of Africa' works. Marino has spent 6 months in South Ethiopia, within the Omo River Valley, capturing images of people in traditional villagers which haven't been affected by the inevitable tourism and western technology, Marino referring this as a 'race against time.'
Galerie Brockstedt in Berlin is currently showing some of these works with the main focus on the tribal children and their cultural body marks, including white chalk marks and detailed patterns shaved into the heads.
