A little piece of paradise!
James Alexander Interiors will be in Mexico for new year and are definitely planning a trip here. A minimal colonial retreat set atop a perfumery,"Casa de los Frailes," it stands out in this sleepy Yucatán town thanks to its 'frangipani' scented courtyard, thatched-roof spa and 1 utterly exquisite room including a balcony with a pretty decent view.
The space is enhanced by the combination of local pieces mixed with foreign influences, including hand-carvings, fine antiques, coloured tile flours, touches of gilding and old textiles, all surrounded by unpretentious raw materials. The gardens also look quite magical, various species of palm trees, frangipanis, gardenias, limes and peppermint were planted by the owners and are not only aesthetically beautiful but extremely practical as are used for their fresh fragrances.
Pretty excited to see the space.
